Movies Calculator helps you see how many films fit your schedule, save them to a watchlist you can actually finish, and share that queue. The homepage calculator is the starting point; franchise runtimes, movie browsing, and optional Pro tools sit around the same job.

Movies Calculator is a personal project by Sergei Chyrkov. It started as a simple question — how many movies could you actually watch? — and grew into a site for turning that number into a queue you can finish and a page friends can open.

Yes. The calculator, runtime tables, franchise and filmography pages, movie browsing, guides, and a basic watchlist stay free. Movies Calculator Pro is an optional paid subscription for personal features like achievements, private profiles, custom accent colors, and streaming details in your watchlist.

No. Movie posters and metadata come from the TMDB API; streaming availability is courtesy of JustWatch via TMDB. The site is not endorsed or certified by TMDB, JustWatch, or any streaming platform or studio.

Content and streaming availability examples target a United States (en-US) audience. You can still use the calculator and runtime guides from anywhere. Signed-in users can set a preferred watch country for where-to-watch data.

Enter how many hours you watch per day, playback speed, a time horizon (from one week to a lifetime), and an average movie length. The calculator multiplies available viewing time by speed, then divides by average runtime to estimate how many movies you can watch — then shows picks you can save to a watchlist.

The lifetime default is 70 years of viewing (25,550 days). It is a playful estimate, not a prediction of lifespan or viewing habits. Adjust hours per day and movie length to match your own routine.

You can model watching from 0.5× (slower / savoring) up to 3×. Higher speeds increase the estimated movie count because each film takes less of your available time.

Yes. Adjusting the calculator updates the page URL with your settings (hours, speed, horizon, and movie length). Anyone with that link sees the same estimate. Those settings are not stored in a user profile.

Recommendations use the TMDB API when configured. You can click a poster to open a detail popup with runtime, genres, rating, director credits, and where-to-watch information.

Open Browse Movies (/movies) to explore popular films. Use search and filters for runtime, genre, release decade, and streaming platform. The default view includes New Releases and Trending rows; filters or search show a paginated results grid.

Franchise pages total theatrical runtimes for series like the MCU or Star Wars. Director and actor pages do the same for filmographies, with film-by-film tables, binge stats, and often streaming availability. TV series live under /tv-series with season-by-season runtimes.

Runtime reference pages answer “how long to watch N movies?” for counts from 1 to 1,000, using average-length buckets (60 min, 90 min, 2 hours, 2h 30min, and 3h+). They also show days needed at different daily viewing amounts.

Guides cover watch habits, marathon planning, average movie length, playback speed, streaming-platform watch time, and where-to-watch articles for popular franchises and shows. Find them under /guides.

Franchise, director, and actor runtimes are manually curated from theatrical releases and updated over time. Totals can differ from other sites depending on which cuts, shorts, or specials are included. TMDB powers browse results and posters; curated pages are editorial.

My Watchlist is the list the calculator is for. Add titles from the movies catalogue, recommendation cards, detail popups, or film tables. Track To Watch and Watched, see total runtime, estimate days to finish the queue, and share the list from your public profile.

You can start a list in the browser without signing in. Create a free account with an email magic link to sync across devices, unlock a profile, and keep your queue when you switch phones or clear browser data.

If you had a local list before signing in, you can merge it with your cloud list on first login so you do not lose titles. Removing a film shows a short undo toast.

On the watchlist page, set hours per day and playback speed to estimate how many days it will take to finish your To Watch queue. Pro members also get streaming availability in the list and can filter the queue by service.

A watch plan is a named snapshot of how you intend to work through your queue — hours per day and playback speed from the watchlist calculator. Pro members can save a few scenarios, such as “Weeknights 1.5h” or “Sunday binge”, compare finish dates, and download calendar events for each evening’s watch block until that pace would finish the queue.

Yes. Move titles from To Watch to Watched. Watched films appear in a table with options to move them back to the queue or remove them. Marking the last queued film watched triggers a completion celebration.

Go to Sign in and request an email magic link. After signing in you get a profile with display name, username, avatar, bio, social links, and watchlist sync. Custom accent colors and preferred watch country are Pro features.

Signed-in users get a shareable page at moviescalculator.com/@username. When the profile is public, visitors can see display name, avatar, bio, social links, watch stats, and the full To Watch and Watched lists.

Private profiles are a Pro feature. Free accounts use a public profile by default. Change visibility in Profile → Settings when you are on Pro.

All signed-in users can set display name, username, bio, avatar, and social links. Preferred watch country, custom accent colors, and extra theming options are available with Pro.

Use the sign-out control from your profile area. Signing out ends your session on that browser; your cloud watchlist and profile remain saved for the next sign-in.

Yes. Cancel anytime from Profile → Billing. You keep Pro benefits until the end of your current billing period.

Your watchlist and profile data stay intact. Pro-only features such as private profile settings, watchlist streaming details, and achievements become unavailable until you upgrade again.

Checkout and billing are handled securely by Lemon Squeezy. Movies Calculator does not store your card number. Manage or cancel the subscription from Profile → Billing.

Pro members unlock 67 achievement badges for watch milestones, queue planning, genre variety, and profile setup — from First Reel through multi-thousand-hour marathon tiers. View them at Profile → Achievements. Unlocking a badge can send an email notification automatically.

Film tables and cards show TMDB provider names. Pro members opening the movie details popup get a JustWatch-powered where-to-watch panel with provider logos and links for their profile watch country (India, Ireland, Mexico, United Kingdom, and United States). Availability changes often and can differ by region.

Signed-in users can set a preferred watch country in profile settings so where-to-watch results better match their region. Streaming guides on the site still emphasize common US platforms.

Yes. Pro unlocks streaming availability on watchlist titles with clickable links that open each title on Netflix, Disney+, and other services in a new tab. Open the movie details popup from a watchlist card or film table for the full JustWatch where-to-watch panel.

Pro uses JustWatch partner data in the movie details popup: provider logos, subscription/rent/buy labels, and direct links for your preferred watch country in profile settings. Partner offers are currently available for India, Ireland, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States; other countries show TMDB provider names without deeplinks.

Yes. Switch between light, dark, and system theme from the header. Your preference is saved in the browser and applied across the site.

Visitors generate limited analytics and server logs. Signed-in users store account email, profile fields, watchlist, and (for Pro) subscription metadata via Lemon Squeezy. Theme preference and pre-sign-in watchlists may live in local browser storage. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

No. Movies Calculator does not sell personal information. Third parties such as Lemon Squeezy, Supabase, analytics providers, and email delivery process data only to operate the product, as described in the Privacy Policy.

A first-visit banner lets you accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or customize analytics. Auth sessions and your cookie choice are essential. Google Analytics, Tag Manager, and Ahrefs load only after you opt in. You can change that later by clearing site data. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Calculator settings may appear in the shareable URL. Anyone with that link can see those inputs. They are not saved to your profile. Your cloud watchlist and private profile (Pro) are account-scoped.

Yes. The site is built as a responsive web app for phones, tablets, and desktops. Sign-in, watchlist, and calculator all work in a modern mobile browser.

There is no public developer API for third-party apps. Movie metadata is loaded from TMDB for site features. For bulk citation, use the HTML or XML sitemap and the llms.txt index of page titles and descriptions.

Product updates are listed on the Changelog page, with dated entries for new features, filmography pages, and site improvements. The About page links there as well.

Catalogue browse results refresh from TMDB. Curated franchise, TV, actor, and director pages are updated as new titles ship or when editorial expansions land — those changes are noted in the Changelog.
